STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 132 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION APPOINTING THE HAWAII COUNTY COUNCIL <br /> REPRESENTATIVE AND ALTERNATE REPRESENTATIVE TO SERVE ON THE <br /> HAWAI`1 STATE ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE AND <br /> NOMINATING A REPRESENTATIVE TO SERVE AS A DIRECTOR ON THE <br /> WESTERN INTERSTATE REGION BOARD OF DIRECTORS. <br /> WHEREAS,the Hawaii State Association of Counties ("HSAC") is a nonprofit <br /> corporation comprised of members of the four county councils of the State of Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, each county council represented on HSAC is a member of the National <br /> Association of Counties ("NACo") and the Western Interstate Region ("WIR"),an organization <br /> comprised of western counties affiliated with NACo: and <br /> WHEREAS, Section 5 of the HSAC Bylaws requires each County Council to appoint <br /> one of its members to serve as an officer of the HSAC Executive Committee, and to designate an <br /> alternate member, prior to April 15 of each year, and whose terms shall begin on July I of the <br /> ensuing fiscal year; and <br /> WHEREAS, Section 5 of the HSAC Bylaws further requires that in making the <br /> appointment, each council shall delegate to its appointees sufficient authority to formulate the <br /> proposed slate of officers; and <br /> WHEREAS. Section 5A of the HSAC Bylaws states that HSAC shall have two directors <br /> serving on the NACo Board of Directors and two directors serving on the WIR Board of <br /> Directors who are nominated to the position by the HSAC Executive Committee and the <br /> individual councils; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Council Member Dru Kanuha is hereby appointed as its representative to the HSAC Executive <br /> Committee for the term beginning July 1, 2017. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Council Chair Valerie Poindexter is hereby <br /> appointed as Hawaii County Council's alternate representative to the HSAC Executive <br /> Committee for the term beginning July 1, 2017. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Council Member Dru Kanuha is hereby nominated <br /> to serve as a Director on the Western Interstate Region Board of Directors for the term beginning <br /> July 1, 2017. <br />
