No. 162 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 9:05 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 162, reports as <br /> follows: <br /> Communication No. 162, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated March 1, 2017, nominates <br /> Joseph B. Clarkson of Council District 1 to the Hawaii County Windward Planning <br /> Commission. <br /> Mr. Clarkson previously served for eight months on the Windward Planning Commission to <br /> finish a vacancy left by another Commissioner. He is willing to continue to serve a full term of <br /> five years. Mr. Clarkson is a retired Chief Engineer. If Mr. Clarkson is confirmed, he would <br /> serve a term ending December 31, 2021. <br /> Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kim, introduced Nominee Clarkson. <br /> Mr. Clarkson appeared in Chambers and offered a summary of his experience thus far on the <br /> commission, and responded to questions from Council Members. Several Council Members <br /> commented in favor of Mr. Clarkson. The vote was then taken with all Council Members voting <br /> "aye." <br /> Chair Eoff stated that Mr. Clarkson did not need to appear at the Council meeting on April 5, <br /> 2017, for confirmation of his appointment. <br /> Pursuant to Section 6-7.3 of the Hawai`i County Charter, members of the Windward Planning <br /> Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council. <br /> PC Report No. 8 <br />
