Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to submit the nomination of Sidney Lee of Hilo to the Hawaii
County Liquor Commission to replace Paul Kierkiewicz of Hilo, whose term
expired on December 31, 1998.
Mr. Lee is a lifetime resident of Hawaii and since 1984 has been the president
and general manager of Glass, Inc. He states that he has no political party
affiliation.
If approved, Mr. Lee will serve a term to end December 31, 2003.
Should the Council need further information regarding this submission, you may
call me at your convenience.

Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 242, reports as follows:
Communication No. 242, transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated Apri] 9, 1999,
nominates for confirmation Mr. Sidney Lee to the Hawaii County Liquor Commission.
A lifetime resident of Hawaii, Mr. Lee has been the president and general manager of Hawaii
Island Glass, Inc. since 1984. Mr. Lee will replace Paul Kierkiewicz of Hilo whose term
expired. Of no political party affiliation, he will serve a term to end December 31, 2003.
Pursuant to Article VII, Chapter 3, Section 7-3.2, Hawaii County Charter, there shall be a liquor
commission consisting of seven members who shall be appointed by the mayor and confirmed by
the council in the manner prescribed in Section 13-4 of the Hawaii County Charter.
Your Committee on Finance recommends confirmation of Mr. Sidney Lee to the Hawaii County
Liquor Commission.
