This program helps to educate the vendors about their obligation to charge customers for acceptance and disposal of used tires. This program is to help ensure that used tires are not being illegally disposed of. Education and Outreach • County has contracted with outside vendor to provide Recycling Education and Outreach Programs island-wide. • This program focuses on Educating the Community about the value of Recycling, Reuse Programs and Diversion of materials away from the County Landfills. The Future of Recycling Programs The County will be updating its Integrated Resources Solid Waste Management Plan beginning in 2017-18. This plan will evaluate all County diversion programs and will include evaluations of waste management options. This update is required by the State of Hawaii to occur every io years.
