RESOLUTION NO. 139 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KA`U RURAL
HEALTH COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION, INC.,TO PUBLISH A STORY/ACTIVITY
BOOK AND DVD.
WHEREAS, the Ka'u Rural Health Community Association, Inc., (KRHCAI) is a
501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports and promotes community empowerment through
education and economic development opportunities; and
WHEREAS.the Department of 1 lcalth determined through its Sexual Violence Primary
Prevention planning efforts that there is a need for greater public awareness and education about
sexual violence and unhealthy relationships among the youth and young adults of l(await and
WHEREAS, KRHCAI is creating a story/activity book and DVD called "Tita the Turtle"
to emphasize healthy relationships and identifies prevention goals and strategies to achieve
healthy, respectful, and non-violent relationships; and
WHEREAS, the author of"Tita the Turtle"is Malie Ibarra, ajunior at Ka`u Intermediate
and High School in Pahala and was written to target keiki from preschool through Third Grade:
and
WHEREAS, KRHCAI is requesting funds to assist with the purchase of paper, binding,
sleeves, covers, blank DVDs, crayons, and bags for the publication of the story/activity book and
DVD: and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139 (a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code.
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity. service,equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used: now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Ka`u Rural Health Community Association. Inc.. to
assist with publication costs for"'Cita the Turtle"a story/activity book and DVD.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
