RESOLUTION NO. 140 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST WITH THE COUNTY'S 20 PERCENT
COST-MATCH WITH THE STATE FOR THE ACQUISITION OF TWO VANS FOR
THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION, ELDERLY ACTIVITIES
DIVISION IN WEST HAWAII.
WHEREAS,the State Department of Transportation is providing four 14-passenger vans
to the County of Hawaii, two will be based in West Hawaii and two in East Hawai`i, with the
County responsible for 20 percent of the cost for the vans; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, will
use these vans for its Coordinated Services for the Elderly program to supplement its current
aging fleet of vehicles and to help expand services to kupuna over the age of 60 and to those with
disabilities to maintain independence and quality of life; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting assistance for the
acquisition of two vans for the Elderly Activities Division in West Hawaii; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to assist with the County's 20 percent cost-match with the State for the
acquisition of two 14-passenger vans for the Elderly Activities Division in West Hawai`i.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai'i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
