Aloha,
We are Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kurtistown. We take in, rescue,
rehabilitate and adopt out primarily dogs and cats. All animals are spayed or neutered.
We have 75-80 dogs and over 250 cats in residence on a 7.5 acre property.
Every month we conduct spay and neuter clinics for dogs and cats and sometimes even
2x a month. We have been doing this for years and we sterilize more than 1250 dogs and 1
cats per year. The demand and need is still high. The veterinarian we work with at the
clinics asks $35 per cat and $65 per dog, male or female. We do around 50 dogs per
clinic and 75 cats per clinic.
The cost of the day per clinic is around$350. Rent of a building, gas for transporting cats
in traps, oxygen, medical supplies, lunch for the volunteers.
So a cat clinic day costs 75 x $35 = $2625 +$350=$2975 total
And a dog clinic day costs 50 x $65 =$3250+ $350=$3600 total
I hope the above is informative to you and I am attaching a copy of an article in the Star
Advertiser in Honolulu outlining the efforts of the Humane Society in Oahu regarding
spaying and neutering feral, semi-feral and community cats and also dogs.
Thank you very much,
Mary Rose Krijgsman
