Aloha Council Members,
Rat Lung worm disease can be prevented with education and instructions on how to clean food which is eaten
raw.
Additionally, the treatment of this debilitating disease is critical to many of our residents afflicted with this
disease.
Without proper attention, tourists could be contracting this disease while here.
Senator Ruderman is seeking funds for education and resources similar to the effort with dengue feaver.
However, since the County o Hawaii is most vulnerable, we need to understand what WE need to do here and
now.
REQUESTS DISCUSSION REGARDING RAT LUNG DISEASE WITH
SUSAN JARVI, PH.D., PROFESSOR AND CHAIR OF PHARMACEUTICAL
SCIENCES AT THE DANIEL K. INOUYE COLLEGE OF PHARMACY
From Council Member Eileen O'Hara, dated February 7, 2017.
