RESOLUTION NO. 166 7
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO CATHOLIC
CHARITIES HAWAII FOR ITS 2017 WEST HAWAII FAITH-BASED SUMMIT TO
END FAMILY HOMELESSNESS.
WHEREAS, Catholic Charities Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that was
chartered in 1947 to expand upon the work begun by the Catholic Women's Aid Society in 1858;
and
WHEREAS, Catholic Charities Hawai`i provides a wide range of social services through
programs and advocacy efforts and serves all people, especially those with the greatest need,
regardless of faith and culture; and
WHEREAS, Catholic Charities Hawai`i will hold its 2017 West Hawai`i Faith-Based
Summit to End Family Homelessness on September 22, 2017, at the Old Airport Pavilion in
Kona; and
WHEREAS,the 2017 West Hawai`i Faith-Based Summit to End Family Homelessness
is a gathering of the faith-based community with the nonprofit sector to address family
homelessness; and
WHEREAS, summit attendees will receive valuable information on the state of family
homelessness, opportunities to provide support, and connection to a network of available
resources; and
WHEREAS, Catholic Charities Hawai`i is requesting financial assistance for food, audio
and visual systems, and event shirts; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated the Office of Housing and
Community Development to provide a grant to Catholic Charities Hawai`i for expenses relating
to its 2017 West Hawai`i Faith-Based Summit To End Family Homelessness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

CREDITED TO: Office of Housing and Community Dev.

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Housing Administrator and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
