RESOLUTION NO. 183 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE NORTH
KOHALA COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE
KOHALA COQUI COALITION.
WHEREAS,the North Kohala Community Resource Center(NKCRC) is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase the number of successful community
projects that benefit North Kohala; and
WHEREAS,the Kohala Coqui Coalition(KCC) is a NKCRC project that is working to
prevent and maintain the prevention of the coqui from overtaking Kohala; and
WHEREAS,the coqui has no predators, parasites, or diseases in Hawai`i to reduce the
growth of their population; and
WHEREAS, the coqui arrive in Kohala via plants and vehicles from infested areas of the
island; and
WHEREAS, KCC will continue a three-pronged approach to prevent infestations via
education,prevention, and eradication; and
WHEREAS,NKCRC is requesting funds for the KKC project to assist with the
purchases of chemicals, safety supplies, newspaper, advertising and printing, and equipment and
repair; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event,
activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to the North Kohala Community Resource Center
for expenses relating chemicals, and safety supplies, newspaper, advertising and printing, and
equipment and repair for the Kohala Coqui Coalition.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transferred/appropriated the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
