Dear Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Ms. Mary Freitas of District 2 to the Hawai'i County
Board of Appeals. Ms. Freitas retired as a Purchasing Manager for Jungbunzlauer,
one of the world's leading producer of biodegradable products. She also worked as an
accounts receivable clerk with the State of Hawai'i DLNR. Ms. Freitas received a
Liberal Arts Degree from UH Manoa and an Accounting Degree from Boston Business
School. She has lived in Hawai'i for approximately 34 years.
Ms. Freitas is an active member of our community and has previously volunteered,with
the YWCA Head Start Program, taught religious education for Malia Puka 0 Kalani and
Holy Rosary Catholic Churches, and a current member of the Halai Kumiai.
Ms. Freitas states that she is affiliated with the Democratic party. If confirmed, she will
serve a term ending December 31, 2021.
