Dear Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Mr. Frederick R. Warshauer of District 6 to the Hawai'i
County Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission
(PONC). Mr. Warshauer is a retired botanist with the U.S. Geological Survey Biological
Resources Division (RCUH), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and a former Planner with
the County of Hawai'i. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State
University and Masters of Science from UH Manoa. He has been a resident of Hawai'i
for approximately 63 years.
Mr. Warshauer is an active member of our community having served on the Steering
Committee of the Puna Community Development Plan, as a conservation chair of the
Sierra Club and currently sits on the State of Hawai'i's Legacy Land Conservation
Commission (a commission that advises the Board of Land and Natural Resources on
various projects).
Mr. Warshauer states he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will
serve a term ending December 31, 2021.
