You need to do something about this. The coupon program is extremely inconvenient, they run out of coupons, and people can't always get off work or arrange a vet appointment before the coupon expires. We need CONVENIENT free spay/neuter, all the time, for everyone, not with HIHS issued coupons, not just at the 3 shelters, but also clinics that are convenient for people all over the island. Wealthy people won't use this service. The rescue orgs hire a vet to do spay/neuter for a day at a free clinic, why doesn't HIHS do that? HIHS raised, per their own website, $1 million for a fancy building plus someone donated $800,000 for the land, but they didn't bother to raise one penny for free spay/neuter. HIHS is too blind to see there is another way to reduce over-population,they are in denial. Many other places have gotten to low-kill or no-kill—learn from them, don't try to reinvent the wheel.
