Aloha Council Members,
AsY ou know, the Ka'u District and Ocean View in particular is
severely lacking in services. Two issues remain at the forefront
ofY our constituents in Ocean View.
1) The lack of a sufficient water supply. My understanding is
that the Department of Education will not consider building a
school in Ocean View without a larger and reliable water sup ly
p
system. Children who live in Ocean View must travel. 2-3 hours
per day to attend school.
2) No pdisposal/transferermanent rubbish station. The
temporary transfer station in Ocean Viewis only open on
Saturdays from 9am-3pm. . It only accommodates trash and HIS
' disposal. There is no ability for the disposal of recyclable
materials necessitatingthe residents to take recyclables to the

transfer station 17 miles away in Waiohinu. A significant
population in Ocean View does not have adequate transportation
to take recyclables to Waiohinu so much ends up in the trash.
