SUBJECT: Attendance at the Hawai'i Island's Wastewater Forum
on April 20, 2017 at the West Hawaii Civic Center
In accordance with Hawaii Revised Statues 92-2.5(e), I am reporting the attendance of myself, Council
Members Maile David and Karen Eoff at the "Hawai`i Island's Wastewater Forum"; a public event put on
by Community Enterprises and held on April 20,2017 at the West Hawai`i Civic Center.
Items on the agenda were as follows:
1. Learn about Hawaii Island's options in addressing water pollution problems with ramifications
for the community's overall growth management and sustainability goals.
2. Forum presenters included:
• William Kucharski, Director, County Department of Environmental Management
• Maile David, Councilwoman, Hawaii County Council
• Karen Eoff, Councilwoman, Hawaii County Council
• Rick Gaffney, President, Rick Gaffney&Associates
Hawaii Revised Statutes §92-2.5(e) states that two or more members of a board, but less than a quorum,
may attend an informational meeting or presentation on matters relating to official board business,
including a meeting of another entity, legislative hearing, convention, seminar, or community meeting;
provided that the meeting or presentation is not specifically and exclusively organized for or directed
toward members of the board. The section further provides that at the next duly noticed meeting of the
board,the board members shall report their attendance and the matters presented and discussed.
Please place this communication on the next available meeting of the Council.
