JN�Y os N <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII +��`-" %�•- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 193 17 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KEAUHOU <br /> CANOE CLUB TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH ITS 1ST ANNUAL <br /> ALA KAHAKAI LONG DISTANCE CANOE RACE. <br /> WHEREAS, the Keauhou Canoe Club, formerly known as Kauikeaouli Canoe Club, is a <br /> 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate the youth, its members, and the <br /> community at large about the Hawaiian culture, values, and traditions; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Keauhou Canoe Club promotes competitive and recreational outrigger <br /> canoe paddling and other water sports in historic Keauhou Bay; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Keauhou Canoe Club, will hold its 1St Annual Ala Kahakai Long <br /> Distance Canoe Race on August 12, 2017, from Anaeho`omalu Bay to Keauhou Bay, which <br /> will also serve as a qualifying race for Moloka`i Hoe and Na Wahine 0 Ke Kai; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Keauhou Canoe Club is requesting funds to help pay for expenses <br /> related to the event like food, t-shirts, and prizes; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br /> promote alcohol- and drug-free activities that focus on health and wellness; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Keauhou Canoe Club to assist with expenses associated <br /> with its 1st Annual Ala Kahakai Long Distance Canoe Race. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
