Dear Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Shirley David of District 7 to Hawai'i County's
Kona Community Development Plan Action Committee. Ms. David is a retired Law
Librarian and has been a resident of Hawai'i for the past 12 years. She earned her
Bachelor's degree in Political and Library Science from St. Catherine's University in St.
Paul, MN.
Ms. David previously participated as a community member in the planning of the Kona
CDP. She is an active member of our island community and volunteers in numerous
organization including: a member of the Hawai'i Island Advisory Board of Catholic
Charities Hawaii, boardmember of Community Enterprises, Tutoring Program at Ulu
Wini Housing and Holualoa elementary School, volunteers on several positions at St.
Michael's Church, Friends of the Library in Kona, and the Community Alliance Partners.
Ms. David is a member of the Democratic party. If confirmed, she will serve to fill a term
ending June 30, 2020.
