RESOLUTION NO. 202 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO WATERS OF LIFE
NEW CENTURY PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES
• ASSOCIATED WITH ITS AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Waters of Life New Century Public Charter School, also known as Na
Wai Ola Public Charter School, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides education in a
nurturing environment and strives for individual academic success with Hawaiian culture and
values as its guiding principle; and
WHEREAS,Na Wai Ola Public Charter School, located in Mountain View, currently
serves 185 students (73% are Native Hawaiian) from both upper and lower Puna, and over 80%
of the students come from low-income households; and
WHEREAS,Na Wai Ola Public Charter School provides affordable, safe, and reliable
after-school care for its students; and
WHEREAS,Na Wai Ola Public Charter School is requesting funds for supplies and staff
supervision for its after-school program; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports this after-school program,
because it provides supervision and educational opportunites for students in an alcohol-free
venue; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Waters of Life New Century Public Charter School, also
known as Na Wai Ola Public Charter School, to assist with expenses associated with after-school
care for its students.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
