Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 247, reports as follows:
Communication No. 247, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim dated April 12, 2017,nominates
Mr. Frederick R. Warshauer of Council District 6 to the Hawai`i County Public Access, Open
Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission(PONC).
Mr. Warshauer was introduced by Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kim, and
requested Council's favorable action of this appointment. Ms. Bautista stated that if
Mr. Warshauer is confirmed, he will fill a term that will expire December 31, 2021, and that he is
not affiliated with any political party.
Nominee Warshauer was present and expressed that it would be an honor to serve on the Public
Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission. Several Council
Members spoke in favor of his nomination.
Chair David informed Mr. Warshauer that he did not need to appear before the full Council for
confirmation.
Pursuant to Article 42, §2-215(a), Hawai`i County Code, there is established a Public Access,
Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission, which shall consist of nine
members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 247,
and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Frederick R. Warshauer to the Hawai`i
County Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission.
