A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ORCHIDLAND
NEIGHBORS IN SUPPORT OF A COMMUNITY CENTER IN ORCHIDLAND.
WHEREAS, Orchidland Neighbors is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to
build a multi-purpose community center in Orchidland; and
, WHEREAS, the proposed multi-purpose community center would have public space for
a Farmer's Market, Food Basket distributions, emergency/disaster services, and meeting rooms
that'would benefit the regional community, as well as Orchidland residents; and
WHEREAS, Orchidland Neighbors is seeking funds to assist with the planning, design
work, and permitting that would be required for construction of a multi-purpose community
center; and
WHEREAS,the Office of Housing and Community Development supports this grant
because it provides for communityy capacity building, a rural facility that provides food
distribution to those in need, and emergency services in times of crises; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Office of.Housing
and Community Development to provide a grant to Orchidland Neighbors to assist with building
its multi-purpose community center in Orchidland.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Housing Administrator and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
