C,oactit. 2E2 <br /> EXHIBIT A <br /> �' : cn <br /> C> <br /> its-=eta+. s 4 f <br /> friAZitZ <br /> °�_ Safe Routes to School Coordinator for the County of Hawaii <br /> Scope of Work ›,, <br /> The County of Hawaii Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Coordinator will be responsible for <br /> the ongoing development, management, administration and evaluation of the County of <br /> Hawaii's Safe Routes to School efforts. The coordinator will work with State of Hawaii <br /> SRTS Coordinator, and the Chief of Traffic Division for the County of Hawaii, employees <br /> of schools, parents, youth and community stakeholders to educate on the benefits of <br /> walking and biking to school and to advocate for policies and projects that make it safer <br /> and easier for school children to walk and bike to school. <br /> The coordinator will initiate and manage the development of a County of Hawaii Safe <br /> Routes to School Program, with tasks including but not limited to: <br /> • Develop a process to identify and implement and prioritize safe routes to school <br /> infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects in Hawaii County schools. <br /> o Over site of projects funded in whole or in part by moneys received from the safe <br /> routes to school program special fund to ensure compliance with applicable <br /> federal and state requirements. <br /> • Develop relationships with the leadership and staff of individual schools and <br /> other youth-related stakeholders throughout Hawaii County <br /> o Assessing existing and past SRTS activities, identifying barriers to walking and <br /> biking to school, establishing current rates of walking and biking and developing <br /> a system for ongoing tracking <br /> • Coordinating activities related to youth bicycle and pedestrian safety education <br /> and training <br /> • Identify, recruit, engage and maintain SRTS champions and partners schools in <br /> Hawaii County. <br /> • Serve as a subject matter expert on SRTS-related content and best practices <br /> • Document and track SRTS meetings, activities, updates and tasks <br /> • Represent SRTS efforts at meetings of funding partners and other stakeholders <br /> The coordinator will provide support to the Hawaii DOT Safe Routes to School <br /> coordinator, with tasks including but not limited to: <br /> • Submit by July 1 a mid-year progress report on the status of the county-level <br /> SRTS program; and <br /> • Submit by November 1 of each year an annual report on the status of the county- <br /> level SRTS program.
