Re: Amend Resolution 189-17
Resolution 189-17 specified that the Mayor would be authorized to enter into a three-
year, multi-year agreement with the State of Hawai`i's Employees' Retirement System
(ERS) and was adopted on May 3, 2017. The terms of the agreement however, are for a
four-year term.
Enclosed is a resolution to amend resolution 189-17 to indicate that the multi-year
agreement be changed from the indicated three-year term to a four-year term.
We would like to request that this resolution be waived from the Finance Committee and
be placed on the June 7, 2017 Council Agenda in order to expedite this matter. If there
are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Kay Oshiro, Controller, at
961-8425.

A. REQUEST:
Amend Resolution 189-17 by changing the authorization from a three-year agreement to a four-year
agreement.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Resolution 189-17 was adopted by Council on May 3, 2017. This resolution specified that the Mayor would
be authorized to enter into a multi-year, three-year agreement with the State of Hawai'i Employees'
Retirement System (ERS). We wish to amend this resolution to change the period to a multi-year, four-year
agreement.
We ask that this matter be waived from the Finance Committee and be placed on the June 7, 2017 Council
agenda.

AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR FOR A
MULTI-YEAR AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII EMPLOYEES'
RETIREMENT SYSTEM (ERS)
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i,this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Financefor placement on its future agenda.
