To: Council Testimony Subject: OPPOSE: Gasoline tax increase as it is proposed Aloha County Council, I understand the need for increasing taxes in order to provide much needed services and maintenance of our roads and safety programs. There must be better, more innovative ways to get tax dollars from tourists here for a short while, impacting our environment or from large corporations which get such huge tax write-offs that I probably pay more taxes than they do. I understand that some of the taxes are State wide and we have no influence and probably no benefit, but please let's make taxation fair to our residents, low-income families and people on fixed income. Gasoline tax Proposed gasoline tax increase to 10 cents per gallon. Again not fair to commuters, those having to drive across island for work??? We need major tax reform--fair taxes that do not penalize the poor instead knee-jerk ideas to increase the coffers. The County Council, our representatives are doing their best. Let's-support their efforts to achieve fair taxes. Mahalos to Eileen Ohara and:Jennifer.Ruggles for watching out for us in Puna. Mahalo, Maya Dolena Pele Lani Farm m: ld®. CI 1* Ref.
