The following are the recommendations of the Committee on Planning which
were considered at its meeting of August 10, 19 77:

From Planning Commission Chairman Lorraine R. Jitchaku
dated May 16, 1977, recommending that Bill 273 relating
to the deferral of rezoning requests in the Kalapana-
Kaimu area, pending the completion and adoption of the
Puna Community Development Plan and General Plan by
the Planning Commission and County Council, respectively,
or December 31, 1977, whichever is sooner, be favorably
considered, subject to amendments, as listed.

No. 93. 3 : APPROVAL OF BLOCK GRANT APPLICATION - 1977
From Deputy Managing Director Megumi Kon dated July. 28,
19 77, transmitting copy of letter from Mr. Alvin K. H.
Pang, Area Director, Department of Housing and Urban
Development, to Mayor Matayoshi dated July 18, 1977,
informing they have approved the third year Ohmmunity
Development Program for $835 , 000 and that funding
approval has been authorized for carrying out the
program over a twelve-month period effective July 19 ,
1977.

ALTERNATIVE - EDA GRANT NO. 07-09-01880
From Director of Research and Development Clarence W.
Garcia, dated July 28 , 1977, informing that they have
been advised that the Economic Development Administration
has approved the County application for an Economic
Adjustment Assistance Grant for funding under Title IX
of the Public Works and Economic Development Act of
1965 , as amended, and requests $35 ,000 for County of
Hawaii ' s cash contribution.
Approve request and refer
to Finance Director for funding.
