Your Committee on Planning to which was referred:
Comm. 1031 : SIGN VARIANCE REQUEST - KENNETH FUJIYAMA REALTY, INC.
From Al Inoue, Managing Broker, Kenneth Fujiyama
Realty, Inc. , dated January 18, 1979, requesting a
sign variance to erect a price sign which will be
6. 5 square feet, as compared to the allowable 2 square
foot sign under the present regulation, for a self-
service gas station they plan to open in the Kawailani
Stop 'N Shop Shopping Center on the corner of Ainaola
Drive and Kawailani Street. This sign will be dis-
played under the canopy of the station immediately
above the pump island which will not be a distraction
or an eye-sore to the motoring public.
1031.1: From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated. March 1, 1979,
recommending that the request to waive the small sign
limitation of two square feet and to allow a sign
6. 5 square feet in area, advertising the price of
gasoline, and to be affixed to the structure, be
denied. Recommends approval, however , should the
stipulations prescribed under Item 3, as listed, be
complied with;
recommends Council approve the request for a sign variance provided
that the stipulations prescribed under Item 3, as listed in C71031. 1,
are complied with.
