The following are the recammendations of the Committee on Public Works
which were considered at its meeting of June 1, 1977 :
COMMUNICATIONS
rNo. 109 : PENALTY FOR LITTERING
(Bill 277) From Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi dated January 20 , 1977
recommending adoption of an ordinance to amend Section 4.08
(Penalty for littering) , Article 2, Chapter 3 , Hawaii
County Code, by increasing the minimum fine from $5.00 to
$100.00 which he believes will result in the awareness by
residents and visitors of the seriousness and intent of
the County to keep the island clean and beautiful.
&C- 109.1 : From Chief of Police Guy Paul dated February 8, 1977 ,
submitting report, as requested.
Accept recommendation of Police Chief
to amend definition of litter
( Section 4.OlA, Article 2, Chapter 3,
Hawaii County Code) and recommend
passage of Bill 277, as revised, on
first reading.

BRIDGES OF HAWAII, MAUI AND KAUAI
