The following are the recommendations of the Committee on- Public Works
which were considered at its meeting of April 5 , 1978:
COMMUNICATIONS
r?,e No. 677. 1: AMENDMENT TO TRAFFIC CODE (C-677/PWC-25 )
From Chief Engineer Edward Harada dated March 22, 1978,
informing the Highway Safety Council recommended that
the No Parking Zone request for Koniako Place be
rejected and that no action be taken for now. The
Department of Public Works concurs with the Highway
Safety Council and requests that Communication 677 be
filed and no further action be taken.
Approve request and rescind
action taken on C-677/PWC-25 .
A 6- No. 736: AMENDMENT TO TRAFFIC CODE - CROSSWALK ON MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY
From Chief Engineer Edward Harada dated March 14, 1978 .t
requesting amendment to Chapter 6 (Traffic Code) ,
Schedule 7 , Section lA;_:of Article 12, to establish
a crosswalk on the old Mamalahoa Highway in Papaikou,
adjacent to the Kalanianaole School. This crosswalk
is needed as a new Band-Art Building rwill be constructed
across the street.
Approve request and refer to
Corporation Counsel to prepare
the proper amendment.
Res . 230 : NAMING OF HOLUALOA COMMUNITY CENTER - DR. HARVEY S . HAYASHI
(Revised) MEMORIAL COMPLEX
Recommends that the Holualoa Community Center be named
the Dr. Harvey S . Hayashi Memorial Complex in honor of
this honorable man and his pioneering achievements .

ESTABLISH 25 MPH SPEED LIMIT FOR ROADWAY TO PAHOA
SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL SYSTEM
Amends Chapter 6 (Traffic Code) , Article 8, Section 5
Hawaii County Code, as amended, relating to Special
Speed limits .

ESTABLISH NO-PARKING ZONES ON KAIULANI STREET,

Amends Chapter 6 (Traffic Code) , Article 15 , Section 8,
Hawaii County Code, as amended, relating to No-Parking
Zones .
