Your Committee on Public Works to which was referred:
Comm. 312. 2 : SADDLE ROAD
From Councilman William S. Kawahara dated
October 31, 1978 pointing out that the Saddle
Road should be improved becauseof the heavy
use of the road by employees at the Mauna Kea
astronomical facilities, by the military based
at Pohakuloa, and by commuters between Hilo and
Kona, and requests that the Council contact the
State Department of Transportation to get an
update on why the State has not taken over the
Saddle Road
recommends Council place Communication 312 . 2 on file; and direct the
PWC Chairman to contact the Department of Transportation to get an
update on why the State has not taken over the Saddle Road and request
the Legislative Auditor to report on the status, of funding for
maintenance of Saddle Road.
