4., Comm. 1205. 3_: TRANSPORTATION SERVICE FROM KOHALA TO KONA
From Deputy Managing Director/Transit
Coordinator Barney B. Menor dated September 11,
1979 responding to the request of the group
• of employees, represented by Mr. Pedro Aquino,
seeking transportation between Kohala and Kona.
Recommends, after a review of the Hele-On system,
• the reallocation of the first three hours in
the morning and the last one hour in the afternoon
of the Alii Shuttle, and taking this savings
in operating hours and applying it to the proposed
Kohala-Kona route, for an initial 60-day trial.
•
Should the Council authorize the Transit Agency
to proceed, it is necessary to : 1) obtain the
concurrence of Laupahoehoe Transportation
Company, the prime contractor for the Hele-On
system; and 2) notification to riders on the
Alii Shuttle, as well as Kailua merchants and
hotels;
recommends Council authorize the Transit Agency to proceed with the
implementation of the proposed Kohala-Kona route, as outlined in the
Communication.
