Your Committee on Public Works to which was referred:
42e Comm. 1385: EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR SOUTH POINT
From T. S. Yamada, Island Manager, Hawaiian
Telephone Company dated October 25, 1979
responding to an inquiry on a communication
system for South Point. Informs public pay
telephones in isolated areas are frequently
vandalized and thus will be inoperable most
of the time, not meeting the public 's requirement;
• and recommends installation of a ringdown circuit
at the old Air Force missile site at South Point
which will automatically cause the telephone at
Naalehu Police Station to ring upon lifting of the
receiver. This proposal is subject to the
• conditions, as contained in his letter?
recommends Council accept the proposal of Hawaiian Telephone Company, to install
a ringdown circuit at South. Point; -and refer to Finance Committee for
funding.
