Comm. 1548 : REQUEST TO.-USE. PORTION OF THE COUNTY .PARKING -
LOT AND CLOSE. OFF PORTION OF HAILI STREET BETWEEN
KEAWE STREET AND THE OLD- KAMEHAMEHA AVENUE -
DOWNTOWN. INTERNATIONAL- JAMBOREE
From Hiromu 'Yamanaka, Hilo Downtown Improvement
Association., atid:Zar,p8,ZOuza Young Men's Institute,
dated May 2, 1980, submitting the following
requests • for the Downtown International Jamboree
in July:
(1) Use of that portion of the County's
parking lot makai of the realigned
Kamehameha .Avenue from 8 : 00 a .m. ,
Tuesday, July 22, to 5:00 p.m. , Monday
July 28 ,- for a carnival to be held
July 25-27, 1980;
(2). Permission to operate a "beer' garden"
in the parking lot during the hours the
carnival is open;
(3) Permission to close off . Haili Street
•
between Keawe Street and the old
Kamehameha Avenue from noon, Thursday,
July 24, through noon, Monday, July 28 ,
•
for "special events" ;
•
(4) Moratorium.. on feeding all the downtown
parking •meters on Saturday, July 26; and
(5) Permission to use County water as
approved by the Department of Water
Supply.

recommends Councilapprove the requests of the YMT and Hilo Downtown
Improvement Association for the Downtown International Jamboree
provided that the conditions required by the Police Department,
Public Works Department, Fire Department, Hilo Hospital, Mass Transit
Agency, Department of Water Supply and Department of Liquor Control are
complied with.
