Dear Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Minoru Hanato of Council District 7 to the Veterans
Advisory Committee. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1963-1969.
He is also a Vietnam Veteran and member of the Disabled American Veterans Kona
Chapter#7.
Mr. Hanato retired as a businessman and was a proprietor of Hanato Tofu Factory for
many years. He was also worked as a farmer, welder, and bartender.
Mr. Hanato is an active member of our community volunteering countless hours to
various veterans organizations especially with the Disabled American Veterans
organization. Mr. Hanato is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i.
Mr. Hanato states he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a
term ending December 31, 2021.
