Comm.. 430: CONSTRUCTION 'OF A SMALL WHITE SAND BEACH ON WAIAKEA
PENINSULA
From EDC Chairman Frank De Luz , III , dated August 19 ,
1981, transmitting copies of letters sent to the Army
Corps of Engineers and the Department of Parks &
Recreation and their responses regarding a recommenda-
tion made at the Workshop on Tourism calling for the
construction of a small white sand beach on Waiakea
Peninsula.
ALL, 430. 1: From Milton T. Hakoda, Director of Parks & Recreation,
dated September 25 , 1981, informing that in .order to
• design a master plan and get a cost estimate for the
development of a white sand beach on Waiakea Peninsula,
funds must be made available to them to hire a consultant;
•
in light of U. S. Senator Spark Matsunaga' s proposal to construct a
blacksand beach at Hilo Bay, recommends the communications be referred
to the Senator requesting that he look into the construction of a small
white sand beach on the Waiakea Pen.irlsula.
