Your Committee on Economic Development to which was referred:
Comm. 853 : PEDDLING ORDINANCE
From Corporation Counsel Stephen J. Menezes dated
June 3 , 1982, transmitting copies of letter from
John D. Most, of Aloha 111 Produce Company, dated
May 23 , 1982 , requesting an amendment to the peddling
ordinance so that he can continue to operate his
produce business on Alii Drive.
853. 1: From Chief of Police Guy A. Paul dated June 24 , 1982,
submitting, as requested, an update, evaluation and
appraisal of Ordinance 682.
853 . 2 : From Planning Director Sidney Fuke dated July 16 , 1982,
informing they have reviewed Ordinance 682 and find that
the ordinance is okay, but should be expanded, as stated.
In addition, recommends that a map of the restricted
areabe included in the ordinance for clarification
purposes.
853 .3 : From Legislative Assistant Robert Shioji dated
September 8 , 1982, recommending that the Planning
Director' s proposed amendment of Ordinance 682 be
approved and all requests for temporary variances be
considered on a case-by-case basis as authorized by
Article 14 , Section 3 (b) of the ordinance.

4„ ,,- 853. 4 : From Maxine Gerardi , Secretary, Kona Coast Chamber of
Commerce, dated September 17 , 1982 , informing they'
still support the same ban against street peddling or
soliciting in Kailua-Kona;
recommends Council accept the recommendation of the Planning Director
to amend Article 14 , Section 3 (a) (3) and that Bill 887 be passed on
first reading.
Further recommends that all requests for temporary variances be considered
on a case-by-case basis as authorized by Article 14, Section 3 (b) of
Ordinance 682.
