Your Committee on Economic Development to which was referred
Resolution 886-84 reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution 886-84 is to show that the Hawaii County
Council endorses Federal legislation to extend energy tax credits for
alternative energy systems until December 31, 1988. The bill, which
was proposed by Senator Spark Matsunaga, also provides for a
15 percent business energy tax credit for solar , wind, geothermal,
and OTEC systems, and a 10 percent credit for biomass energy
development. This resolution shall be sent to members of the Hawaii
Congressional Delegation as a gesture that we need and welcome
• development of alternative energy systems in Hawaii and that tax
credits are important incentives for continued growth and development .
Your Committee on Economic Development concurs with the intent and
purpose of Resolution 886-84 and recommends its adoption.
