Mr. Kamohoali'i is the lead archaeologist and researcher for Kihikihinuiakea &Associates, an archaeological consulting firm in Waimea. He also serves as Kumu Hula and Executive Director for Halau Na Kipu'upu'u. Mr. Kamohoali'i holds a BA degree in Hawaiian Studies and Language and a BA in Performing Arts from UH Hilo. He also has a MA degree in Cultural Heritage Management and Archaeology from UH Hilo and Arizona State University.. As a native Hawaiian, Mr. Kamohoali'i believes it is his responsibility to preserve and perpetuate his Hawaiian heritage and culture. His past employments and community activities related to this subject include being a cultural teacher and specialist at the Keauhou Beach Resort and UH Hilo, a Hawaiian Studies teacher at Hilo High, a cultural advisor for the Waimea Hawaiian Homestead Association, and a Hawaiian culture practice and protocol instructor. Mr. Kamohoali'i states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term ending December 31, 2021.
