However, if you are either on the fence, or against the ban, Honorable Councilmembers, please allow me to state my perspective... Let's face it. The planet's life support systems are collapsing. Acidification of the oceans. A 600:1 plastic to plankton ratio in the ocean. Species extinction. Rapid ohia death. Bee colonies collapsing. Ice-caps melting. Dead zones off the California coast. Overfishing. the list goes on and on,right? The Earth is seriously ill. But I love this Earth. That's why I treat her the same way I treat any loved one who is seriously ill. When a loved one is in the hospital on his/her deathbed, do you walk away and say, shoots, they're gonna die anyway, so why bother? Or do you walk away because you have to run off and make some money somewhere? No, you stay and do your part. You do all you can. You are happy to make sacrifices. You care. that's where we all are now with Planet Earth, folks. It's time to make those economic-or-whatever sacrifices. A styrofoam ban is one of those sacrifices. It's for a loved one. Mahalo for reading. Please vote with care. Koohan Paik COUNTY CLERK COUNTY OF HAWAI'I RECEIVED Time 0.00 Date bmt 0 • Comm. ko. k®l`gC Ref. TO: d{l,. 1 Ref. ®ate
