Subject: Testimony in support of Bill 13 - ban on styrofoam
Aloha mai kakou,
My name is Serafina Gajate, I am a resident and registered voter of'Ola'a, Mt.View, Moku o Hawai'i and I am writing to
express my support for Bill 13, in support of banning styrofoam take-away containers.
There are several alternatives to styrofoam available already,and I believe a ban will help to incentivize the creation of
even more and cheaper options. While the wholesale cost of styrofoam containers is cheaper initially,we ultimately pay
a much higher cost in the environmental harm styrofoam waste causes.Around the world communities are moving
away from this harmful material, and Hawai'i should be at the forefront of that movement, not lagging behind.
