The County should appeal the results for two major reasons: . The verdict was unjust because the jurors were not allowed to hear facts crucial to the defense's case. Had the jury been allowed to hear all the relevant evidence, we believe the outcome of the trial would have been far different. . The amounts of the awards were outrageously high. At least some of the recipients actually benefited from alleged cheating on the oral exams, yet were awarded compensation. Furthermore, none of the alleged offenses occurred under the current leadership of the Police Department. Although all occurred under previous police administrations, the former chiefs under which the alleged offenses occurred were not named in the lawsuit. Please do not perpetuate this injustice by declining to fund an appeal of an unjust verdict. You are in a position to help right a grievous wrong, and I strongly urge you to do what is right instead of what is politically expedient.
