Your Committee on Public Works to which was referred:
AComm. 279 : DOWNTOWN 'INTERNATIONALJAMBOREE
From Calvin Tung, Hilo Downtown Improvement Association,
and Ronald DeLima, Young Men' s Institute, dated
April 14, 1981 requesting authorization to:
1. Use a portion of the County public parking lot
makai of the realigned Kamehameha Avenue for a
carnival from 8:00 a.m. , Tuesday, July 14 , to
5 :00 p.m. , Monday, July 20 .
2. Close off Haili Street between Keawe Street and
the Old Kamehameha Avenue from noon, Thursday,
July 16 , through noon, Monday, July 20 , for
"special events" .
3. Have a moratorium on feeding all of the downtown •
parking meters on Saturday, July 18 for the
special sales®
4 . Use of County water, as approved by the Department
of Water Supply, at the bus terminal building.
These requests are to hold the jointly sponsored
Downtown International Jamboree_: during the month of
July, 1981;
recommends Council approve the requests of. the YMI and Hilo Downtown
Improvement Association for the Downtown International Jamboree, provided
that the conditions required by the Police Department, Public Works
Department, Fire Department, Hilo Hospital, Mass Transit Agency,
Department of Water Supply and the Department of Liquor Control are
complied with. Further recommends that a resolution to declare a
moratorium on parking meter enforcement for July 18, 1981 be adopted
by the Council.
