4g, Comm. 231.1: 'HAWAIICOUNTY HE LE-ON 'BUS' SYSTEM
From Transit Coordinator Barney B. Menor, dated
August 4, 1981, transmitting for review and
adoption, thefollowing fare rate proposals to
insure the continuation of the Hele-On bus
system and provide a firmer financial base:
Proposal A provides for an overall system
fare recovery level, of 50 percent.
Proposal B provides for a 50 percent fare
recovery level for only the rural and
MaunaKeaBeach Hotel routes while maintaining
the intra-Hilo and intra-Kona system fares
to the existing zone fare structure.
These fare rate proposals were established based
on the systems ridership and cost projections for
July-December, 1,981 and incorporates a zone fare
structure in which a rider pays more the farther
he or she travels.
In addition, MTA intends to drop its monthly pass
program and institute a bus ticket program in its
place;
recommends Council accept the recommendation of the Transit Coordinator
to approve fare rate Proposal B for the Hele-On bus system.
