Subject: Itemization of certain items lumped together on the 2017 budget
Dear Ms.Sato, Mayor Kim,cc Editors,
Is there a way you can please itemize Puna's share of the Mass Transit, Fire Protection, Park& Rec,Ocean Safety and
Pool and any other grouped items in the total budget. How can we know what is spent in our Puna District when it is
lumped together with the rest of the island?
Otherwise, we'll have to assume that only items that say Puna are for Puna, and that is how we prove the discrimination
continues against Puna.
Also, how does the Prosecutor's office and the Police know that they will be able to raise at least$700,000 in Federal
and State Forfeitures? That is assuming. What happens when they budget that as income, but they don't get that
money from busting people and stealing their stuff? How do they make up the shortfall?
Sincerely,
Sara Steiner
