To the County Council,
We are greatly in favor of the bill to allow farmers markets in our parks. The market and food share at Hakalau Veterans
Park was a good utilization of this park. Neighbors met, children played, and local gardeners had an outlet for their
vegetables, fruits, honey and baked goods. The current nationwide push to eat locally grown foods was well served by
this market.
While we agree that regular commerce should not be allowed in county parks, we are in favor of this exception for
community farmers markets and local food shares. .
