Comm. 1182 : IMPLEMENTATION OF A RUNNING-JOGGING LANE ON
ALII DRIVE
From Councilman James L. K. Dahlberg, dated
March 28 , 1983, transmitting a letter from
Mr. George R. Schiur►ann, regarding implementation
of a running-jogging lane on Alii Drive .

responding to C-1182 . Suggests the paving of the'
makai shoulder of Alii Drive to accommodate joggers to
begin in the vicinity of the Kona Hilton Hotel and
extend to the end of the road in Keauhou, approximately
six miles. Since funds ($150 ,000) are not presently
available, recommends that the improvements be done
in phases under the highway F/lMM program when funds
are available. If the project is to be
completed at one time, then inclusion as a CIP
item would be necessary;
recommends referral to the 1983-84 CIP budget for consideration; during
the interim, the administration to implement the improvements in phases
under the highway R/M program when funds are available, as r-commended
by the Mayor.
