Your Committee on Public Works, to which was referred Resolution 'No.
915-84, reports as follows:
The purpose of the resolution is to endorse the conclusions of the
Wailoa Bridge Study that the Wailoa River Bridge be replaced.
Your committee has been communicating with the State Department of
Transportation (DOT) on the condition and status of the bridge. The
DOT has just released a consultant ' s study entitled "Wailoa Bridge
Study" , dated March 4, 1983, which recommends that the Wailoa River
Bridge be replaced as opposed to repaired. The consultant has also
recommended a number of temporary measures which should be
implemented in the interim.
Your Committee on Public Works recognizes the essentiality of this
bridge and supports the consultant ' s recommendations as being in the
best interests of the public; therefore, recommends adoption of
Resolution 915-84.
