Your Committee on Public Works, at its meeting on
September 25, 1984, discussed under new business wastewater
recycling. This concept or system has been almost perfected, and
today it is being implemented in cities such as Denver, Colorado.
This system is even being researched and investigated by the City
and County of Honolulu.
Your Committee recognizes that potable water is a scarce resource
and believes that a study and investigation of wastewater recycling
by the County of Hawaii be desirable. Your Committee, therefore,
recommends that the Council of the County of Hawaii direct the
Administration to begin a studyand investigation of recycling
systems to determine its feasibility for future _implementation.
