SUBJECT: Discussion regarding County Council participation in Real Property Tax
Divisions Real Property Tax Review Working Group
Pursuant to a June 27, 2017 email received from finance Director, Collins Tomei, the
administration has communicated its intention to form a Real Property Tax (RPT)
Review Working Group that will include members of the administration and the public.
Due to Sunshine law requirements, the administration proposes that the County Council
Members may suggest names of people to include in this working group. In addition,
they propose that council members may.be able to provide written input to this working
group, but will not be directly involved as a working group member.
Since only two members of County Council may serve in this type of working group
without violation of Sunshine law, I am requesting that the Council discuss this matter
and if amenable to the formation of an administrative RPT Review Working Group, make
a decision on which two members of the current County Council membership may
represent the County Council on the proposed RPT Review Working Group.
By means of this communication I am requesting 30 minutes in the July 17, 2017
Finance Committee meeting to discuss this option.
