SUBJECT: Request for a Presentation & Update by the Department of Water Supply's
Manager-Chief Engineer, Keith Okamoto, regarding Kona's Water Emergency
We respectfully request one-hour of time for an update and presentation on the current Kona
water emergency by Keith Okamoto, Manager-Chief Engineer of the Department of Water
Supply.
Mr. Okamoto will provide an update on the repairs of the water wells and explain the cause for
the pump failures. He will also provide detailed information on the steps that the Department of
Water Supply is taking to ensure that this situation does not repeat itself in the future.
We are requesting that this matter be placed on the appropriate committee agenda during for
July 17, 2017, at the Kona Council Chambers.
