Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 342, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 342, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated June 15, 2017, nominates
Mr. Micah Kamohoali`i of Council District 9 to the Hawai`i County Cultural Resources
Commission.
Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kim, introduced Mr. Kamohoali`i who
appeared in the Hilo Chambers. Mr. Kamohoali`i was born and raised on Hawai`i Island and is
an active member of the Waimea community where he currently lives.
Several Council Members commented in favor of Mr. Kamohoali`i. The vote was then taken
with eight Council Members voting"aye." Chair Eoff stated that Mr. Kamohoali`i did not need
to appear at the Council meeting on July 18, 2017, for confirmation of his appointment.
Pursuant to Article 44, Section 2-226 of the Hawai`i County Code, the Hawaii County Cultural
Resources Commission shall consist of nine members, and shall be appointed by the Mayor and
approved by the Council.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 342, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Micah Kamohoali`i to the Hawai`i
County Cultural Resources Commission.
