Dear Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate James Higgins of District 8 to the Hawai'i County's Salary
Commission. Mr. Higgins is a retired stockbroker after 44 years of employment. He
also retired as Chair of the Kona Hospital Foundation after 25 years of service.
Originally from Oahu, Mr. Higgins has lived on Hawai'i Island since 1973.
Mr. Higgins graduated from Punahou School and obtained a BS Degree in Economics
from the University of Pennsylvania. He also served 3 years in the US Navy. Prior to
his retirement, Mr. Higgins volunteered his time to many community events and
organizations, including football coach for Konawaena High School, the Rotary Club,
the Water Commission, and many more.
Mr. Higgins states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will
serve a term ending December 31, 2019.
